For Sale - Accepting Sealed Bids through Dec. 29th


The Selma Town Council has authorized the sale by sealed bid of certain real property owned by the Town of Selma, more particularly described as follows:

0.116 acres (+/-) Selma Township, Johnston County, North Carolina having an address of: 105/107 S. Raiford Street, Selma, NC 27576, Parcel ID No.: 14028066D, recorded in Deed Book 5370, pages 671-672 of the Johnston County Registry, being more particularly described in Plat Book 89, page 40 of the Johnston County Registry. The Town of Selma will accept sealed bids for the property at the office of the Town clerk, located at 114 North Raiford Street, Selma, NC 27576. Sealed bids must be submitted by 5:00 p.m., on the 29th day of December, 2020. Bids will be open on the 30th day of December, 2020, at which time they will be delivered to the Town Council for acceptance or rejection.

A qualifying sealed bid must be ac- companied by a deposit in the amount of five percent (5%) of the bid; the deposit may be made in cash, cashier’s check, or certified check. The Town will return the de- posit of the final responsible high bidder at closing; if that bidder re- fuses at any time to close the sale, the deposit will be forfeited to the Town. The bid deposits of other bidders will be returned after the Town awards the property to the highest responsible bidder, or at the time the Town rejects all bids. The buyer must pay with cash, cashier’s check, or certified check at closing.

In order to be considered responsible, a bidder must be current on payment of all property taxes owed to both the Town of Selma and Johnston County.

The Town Council shall determine whether or not to accept the highest responsible bid within 60 days after the bid opening date. Bids shall remain open and subject to acceptance until the Town awards the bid. The Town re- serves the right to withdraw the Property from sale at any time. Further, the Town reserves the right to reject all bids at any time. Inquiries about the property and the sale may be made to the Selma  Town Clerk’s Office.
