On August 28, 2017, Elton Daniels assumed the position of Selma Town Manager. On September 12, 2017, Mr. Daniels took his Electricities oath.
As Town Manager, Daniels is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Town. The Town Manager reports directly to the Mayor and Town Council. It is the Manager's responsibility to provide professional and technical advice and recommend to the Council programs and services as well as implement Council policy. All Town department heads report to the Town Manager and he oversees the overall operations of the Town.
Prior to coming to Selma, Daniels served as Assistant County Manager for Franklin County, NC. He also served as the Town Manager of Sharpsburg, North Carolina.
Mr. Daniels has a Master of Public Administration Degree from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. He received the 2016 UNC-W MPA Alumnus of the Year Award. He is a member of the International City Manager Association and serves on the Board of Directors for the North Carolina City/County Managers Association.
His expertise in recruitment of major industries and small businesses, strategic planning, financial management, revitalizing areas, and marketing will help us keep Selma moving forward. He exudes an energetic “can do” attitude and enjoys getting things done.
