Have a "Splashing Good Time" in Uptown Selma with the Urban Beach Party.
“We're bringing the beach to Selma for kids and adults alike. All ages are welcome.” Said Event Planner, Melissa Dooley. “We want this to turn into an annual event, and we really want people to come and just have a good time with the water games and music and slides.”
TaylorMade DJ Services will spin the beach party tunes on South Raiford Street between Anderson and Railroad Streets from 4p-7p. Limbo contest, hula hoop contest and general all-around merriment.
Two inflatable Water Slides from Bounce Carolina. The "Slip N Slide" and the "Big Kahuna Slide". Slides have a weight limit of 200 lbs and must be used one adult rider at a time or two child riders.
Selma Fire Department will be on-hand to make sure water is flowing with sprinklers, water relay races and water soak downs.
"Dunk Your Coach" in the Dunk Tank provided by A Little This and That. Area coaches will sit on the plank waiting to be dunked, so come by and see if you can dunk YOUR coach!
“A sand area will be at the Hayden Park for kids to sift through to find seashells, starfish, fossils and sharks teeth.” Said Melissa Dooley, Event Planner. “The lucky person to find the sand dollar can turn it in to the Parks & Rec tent for a super surprise.”
Hula Girl Cafe and Catering will have Hawaiian Ice for sale -- $1 each. Wheels of Hope from Edgerton Memorial UMC will have Ice Cream.
There will be relay games featuring water and sponges. A rubber duck race using water pistols to "push" the ducks along will be a fun way for the younger children to engage in the fun. A Volleyball court will be set up on Railroad Street for those that want to play.
The highlight of the day will be the water balloon FIGHT. We will separate adults from age 16 and up and children aged 15 and younger. This will work like dodge ball in that if you are hit with a water balloon, you are out and must leave the arena. A calmer water balloon toss will be available for those not wanting to engage in the water balloon fight. If we are all respectful of others, everyone will have a good time.
Admission is FREE. We cannot guarantee that you will stay dry in the Party area.
This family-friendly event is sure to please.
