Selma Police Department
Young Citizens Academy
The Selma Police Department is beginning a youth program designed to give teenagers (ages 13-18) a chance to develop a positive understanding of what the Selma Police Department does by learning first-hand how it’s done. Other citizens and business owners of Selma are welcome to apply also, but due to limited spacing for 20 students, it will be on a first come first serve basis of which teenagers (with parents’ or guardians’ signature) will be considered first. All applicants must have no criminal history of felonies or serious misdemeanors.
Classes for this free 7-week Academy will be held every Tuesday evening from September 9th through October 21st, 2014 at the Selma Police Department at 1200 South Pollock Street. The class will begin at 6:30 p.m. and end at 8:00 p.m. The Police Department is offering this course annually, each fall, and if interest is strong we will offer it semi-annually.
Applications are available at the Selma Police Department, the Town Hall, the Selma Public Library, and on the Town’s website (www.selma-nc.com). Applications must be submitted to the Police Department prior to the DEADLINE—Monday, September 1st, 2014.
